Designers name their creations after celebrities to cash in on growing demand for chic footwear
It’s goodbye to the Roxanne and the Giselle and hello to the Suri and the Amy: ‘it-shoes’ are about to replace ‘it-bags’.
The sorts of unusual designs and materials associated lately with handbags are being emulated this season in footwear, with innovative designs such as backward heels from Marc Jacobs and knee-high gladiator sandals by Chanel. It is being predicted that women will soon be investing in fewer but more expensive shoes; and there is a growing trend to name shoes after celebrities, just as Luella Bartley named her tote after the supermodel Giselle.

The US shoe market was worth just over $25 billion in 2009 according to report published in January 2010 by market researchers IBISWorld.
But there is more to shoes than that bald statistic suggests. A pair of Crockett & shoes, for instance, undergoes around 280 processes before it’s sent off to the stores. Tuck away your tweed coats, wool sweaters and sheepskin boots, we can soon enjoy cotton, silk and one of my favorite fabrics – linen!
Linen is an elegant, durable fabric that can be used in nearly every type of clothing from pants to dresses to suits. Linen is made from flax and is the strongest of the vegetable fibers. Naturally, linen is an off-white color, varying from creamy white to light tan. However, it can be dyed any shade and the color won’t fade when washed. What’s great about linen is that it’s a cool, breathable fabric that is perfect for warmer months. Though it does wrinkle easily, linen presses easily as well.
This season in addition to beautiful linen skirts and dresses, look for an array of stylish linen shoes and handbags. Here are a few of our linen favorites.
